Reports: Real Madrid to make stunning bid for €113 million playmaker

Real Madrid have found a replacement for Luka Modric, but, is it an exciting one?

Real Madrid Training - UEFA Champions League Final

Real Madrid are in the UAE right now preparing for the semifinal in the FIFA Club WorldCup... This indicates that last season was a fairly decent season, doesn't it? As a European club, you only get to play in the Club World Cup if you win the Champions League and Real Madrid did just that - repeating something they did the year previously as well.

All this success, though, has not made them complacent.

Already looking forward to the future, Madrid are making plans to replace their ageing midfield maestro, Luka Modric... and they've hit upon the perfect blonde-haired replacement.

Looking at the way Pep Guardiola has built his mesmerising team around the considerable talent of Kevin de Bruyne, Florentino Perez has started believing he must make a move for the Belgium star - that is if reports in the Daily Star are to be believed.

The City star, rated at £100 million (or €113 million) by his club, is contracted till 2021, but it is understood that he is not content with the wage packet he is earning right now and that may just be enough for Madrid to enter the discussion and ferment enough discord to get their man.

With Modric on the wrong side of 32, Madrid need to look to the future - or the present at least - and no one is playing more impressive football than Kevin de Bruyne at the moment. Capable of the most outlandish passes, he'd fit right into that star-studded team... and boy, wouldn't Cristiano Ronaldo love playing with him.

While such reports always have to be taken with a pinch, or more, of salt the possibility is mouthwatering - Toni Kroos and Kevin de Bruyne, arguably the best passers in world football today, playing together? Colour me intrigued.

Point is, though, why would City, with their infinite riches, glory-seeking manager, and lofty ambitions even consider such a deal?
